27th April 2010, Getting Ready ….
ByGreetings everyone,
I shall be leaving for Malaysia tomorrow evening, so I’m busy rushing about trying to get all my equipment organized. The journey from Lubbock to Kuala Lumpur will take over 36 hours: first I fly from Lubbock to Dallas, then to Los Angeles, then to Taipei (in Taiwan) before finally getting to Kuala Lumpur. Kuala Lumpur is 13 hours ahead of Lubbock time, so I will be arriving at about 3 pm on Friday (about 2 am Friday morning in Lubbock). I will be heading down to Krau Wildlife Reserve on Saturday morning with quite a big team! We will have four teachers from Australia and three young bat researchers from other countries in Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Cambodia and the Philippines).
This year the bat team in Malaysia will be me, Julie and Ain with our project manager Zam. Danny Squire will be back in Lubbock helping y’all out with the communications to Malaysia, so watch out for him at school!
Next news will come from Malaysia!!!
Dr Kingston
